Current Pledges
Evan Atherton
Class of 2011
Mission Viejo CA
I am a third year and the captain of Cal's competitive archery team. When I'm not shooting archery or hanging out with my girlfriend, I'm riding my 2009 Suzuki GSX-R 600.

In the future I want to either work in robotics, design archery equipment, or work for someone like Apple or Boeing...but we'll see where Cal takes me
Ivan Chang
Class of 2011
Castro Valley, CA
I like what I do and I try to do them well.
Valerie Chang
Class of 2012

Why, hello there! My name is Valerie. I can't really describe myself in words, so you will have to get to know me in person. Only thing I can secretly tell you is that I am a ninja.

Hi, my name is Joyce. I just transferred from Diablo Valley College Spring 2009. I'm majoring in ME with an emphasis on acoustics, and currently working on minors in Music and IEOR.

I love to play music, dance, hang out with friends during my free time. Also I'm very interested in early music instruments right now: harpsichord and baroque violins. I'm playing first violin in the University Baroque Ensemble this semester, so please come see our concerts !!(Noon concert 11/4 and the other one in Dec@Hertz Hall).
Frank Chuang
Class of 2010

Building robots and stuff like that
Soo Hark (Scott) Chung
Class of 2012
Daegu, Korea; Plano, Texas
I'm from Texas, but I've moved around a lot. I'm interested in programming and robotics, and product engineering. I'm a typical nerd. I like all the regular things like music, reading, and spending time on the computer. And I'm Asian.
Matthew Ford
Class of 2012
Roseville, CA
I'm an avid outdoorsman, backpacker, and slackliner. I enjoy biking, walking on ropes, climbing mountains, etc.

I'm interested in a lot of things right now, but I'm especially intrigued by trains, particle physics, metals, philosophy and other ridiculous things... and books by Tom Robbins.
Maha Haji
Class of 2011
Pembroke Pines, FL
I love scuba diving, sailing, windsurfing, and pretty much anything else that involves the ocean and being outdoors. I love being outside, experiencing new things, and baking. I love taking pictures and making short films, especially when they win contests. ;)

I'm currently seeking a double Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics and hope to continue on to graduate school studying Ocean Engineering and researching ways to harness wave energy.
Wesley Hunt
Class of 2012
Westchester
We're takin' this baby to the moon!
Nicholas Iturraran
Class of 2012
Lodi, California
I love the outdoors and all things associated with it. In addition, I am an avid fisherman and diver. Also, I love to go mountain biking. I also have an interest in getting into triathlons, perhaps.

Also, I love Cal. Go Bears!
Nikhil Jain
Class of 2011
Pasadena, CA
I am an avid sports fan-football, basketball, hockey, and more- but most importantly soccer. I've been playing it all my life and love to watch my favorite team, FC Barcelona.

I've also been playing the cello for many many years. Music is a huge passion of mine; i like to listen to many different types in addition to the usual kinds including samba and trance.

I also like to explore new places and do crazy things that push the limits. Skydiving, cliff jumping, and jet skiing are probably the most exhilarating things for me after soccer of course!

I am slowly pursuing a pilots license and am excited to see where that will take me...
Kevin Jenkins
Class of 2012
Sacramento
I love things that go fast, and thats why I'm a mechanical engineer. I ride a motorcycle when I have the chance to, and when I'm in a car I drive 'way too fast' (according to my mother and the chp). I even wanted to be a fighter-pilot for a brief period (between my cowboy and astronaut phases), but it didnt work out like I'd hoped.

I love movies, but I'm not as much of a fan of reading. I can still get into a really good book though. Past that I really like to argue, even if I don't really believe what I'm saying, and I feel like I can talk to just about anybody.

I'm really looking forward to PTS this semester
David Kimber

If you ever want to play basketball, soccer, football, etc., I'm your guy. And I'm pretty much a professional video gamer. And I'm Canadian...

I like warm books on the beach and long walks by the fire. I can also bench press over 500 lbs.

My career goals are to:

1. Be happy
2. Build weapons

I'm planning to do a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering with a Systems Engineering specialization because I like to be in control of everything I can, including the satellites the government is using to control our brains.
Sebastian Ruf
Class of 2011
San Diego
I am a mechanical engineer.
Nicholas Saintarbor
Class of 11
San Diego
My name is Nicholas Owen Saintarbor. I am 20 years old and was born on January 12, 1989. I grew up in San Diego, California and I attended Westview High School. I have two siblings, twin brothers who are six years younger than me. I played volleyball and wrestled my freshman year, threw shot-put and discus my final three years, and played football all four years of high school. I was captain of both football and track my senior year and wish I was a little bit taller so I could have continued to be a baller at Cal. I am also a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and if I wasn’t an engineer would join the club team.
Dominic Scalise
Class of 2011
Oakland, CA
I once covered a friend's car entirely in sticky notes... yes, that's what friends are for.
Stephanie Scott
Class of 2012
San Francisco
Aleksey Shepelev
Class of 2011
San Jose, CA
I've got many hobbies and interests. Right now, it seems that cycling has drawn me in. Mountain biking, road biking, just not fixed gear for some reason. Love tinkering with bikes, learning about bike repair and maintenance. I enjoy photography and shoot for the Blue and Gold Yearbook. Love cars, read tons of car magazines, go to the Pick and Pull for the fun of it. What else? Good rock music, soccer, camping, swimming, making things with my own hands, woodwork.
If all goes well, I'd like to end up in the automotive industry and design cars. Or is it bikes? Haven't made up my mind yet.

Class of 2012

Insufficient data for a meaningful answer.
Ashwin Thomas

I live and die by the Los Angeles Lakers and Green Bay Packers (lived in Wisconsin for three years)

My iTunes collection has 49 days worth of music

I intend on using my future mechanical engineering expertise toward becoming Iron Man
Lingmiao Wang
Class of 2012
Newbury Park
Call me Ling. PLEASE!

I hate blurbs because I'd rather you talk to me than read this but...let's see...

I'm from a small down in Southern California (SOCAL pride!) but I am a Canadian citizen (go CANADA!) and I was born in China. I have a younger brother (9 years old) whose more interested in building things than I am.

I'm part of the Student Homecoming Team and am in the process of joining tbp as well (don't hate). I don't bite, I promise. Oh, and never trust me with directions.
Alexander Weingart
Class of 2012
Agoura Hills
I’m going to be a sophomore this year, and I'm very excited to finally be taking some mechE courses. I love to play tennis (I’m also involved in Tennis at Cal) and ping pong, but I’m pretty much game for any racket sport. I also enjoy going to the gym with friends and wasting time on facebook…I also have this incredibly bad habit of picking up random things and breaking them...which is also how I know I’m in the right major. :D
Lee Weinstein
Class of 2011
San Anselmo
Let's build a space elevator. It will take us to the future faster.
Jamie Young
Class of 2011
Granada Hills
My hobbies include building ikea furniture, watching my dog watch tv, and knitting hats. I hope to use the riches earned using my ME degree to raise many dogs.
